King of the Bootleggers®

King of the Bootleggers®

From Apothecary to Kingpin, George Remus created one of the most intricate, successful bootlegging operations of Prohibition. His legend continues today with the award-winning family of George Remus Bourbons.

Some rules are
made to be broken.
Prohibition for example.

In the 1920s, if baseball had Ruth, bourbon had Remus. Born in Germany and raised in Chicago, George Remus would become a pharmacist and, later, a high-profile defense attorney in the Windy City. Always the opportunist, Remus moved to Cincinnati and used his pharmaceutical and legal expertise to find loopholes in the Volstead Act that allowed him to dispense his juice to the masses for “medicinal purposes”.

Carefully crafted at the historic Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana – just miles from Cincinnati where George Remus ran his Prohibition empire – each bourbon is made to meet the uncompromising standards King George was famous for during his reign.

Whether you select the original, 94-rated George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the highly-acclaimed, limited edition Remus Repeal Reserve Series or George Remus Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon, each offering is as original as the King of the Bootleggers, himself.
